Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
 

Since 2007 TNPL, as a responsible corporate citizen, has ingrained the philosophy of Corporate Social Responsibility deeply into its value system. The company is consistently taking up various community welfare initiatives for the benefit of the people living in the neighboring villages.

TNPL’s CSR policy aims to promote Education, Health Care, Social Development, Livelihood / Economic Improvement, Environment, Sanitation, Culture, Heritage, Soil and Water Conservation.  It aims to protect and nourish the interests of all its stakeholders and contribute to sustainable development. Ethics, value and Transparency will underpin all its interaction within the community. All CSR activities will sub serve social aspirations and nation’s need and will be implemented with integrity, honesty, dignity and decorum.

TNPL’s CSR activities cover different segments. Brief details are as follows:

 
THE PLANTATIONS WERE ESTABLISHED IN TWO CATEGORY VIZ.,
1. Education

•    A modern Matriculation Higher Secondary school, accredited with Five Star Status by Bharathidasan University, Trichy, and a CBSE School for providing quality education are functioning in the township catering to the educational needs of the children from the neighborhood and employees children. The school provides opportunities to excel in studies and extracurricular activities.  Every year, the company spends about Rs.1 crore in providing education to nearly 2,200 students.
•    TNPL ITI was commenced in the year 2014-15 affiliation with NCVT for the trades’ viz., Fitter, Electrician, Welder and Instrument mechanic.  This ITI provides opportunity for nearly 120 students from the neighborhood to enhance their skillset.
•    Every year, TNPL provides free education to 5 children belonging to economically weaker section to pursue their education in TNPL School.
•    TNPL also supports augmentation of educational facilities in various Government schools in neighboring villages, through supply of note books, developing infrastructure facilities, furniture, educational aids, computers etc.
•    Five students are sponsored every year for obtaining Diploma in Paper Technology conducted by M/s Seshasayee Institute of Technology, Trichy
•    Special coaching classes are organized in the government schools to prepare slow learners for the public examination
•    Free notebooks examination papers are provided to government school children
•    Youngsters from neighboring villages are trained in various athletic disciplines
•    Tournaments are conducted to encourage rural sports.   
•    Talent exploration meet among various schools are conducted once in a year.  “TALENT-EXPO” is a platform to the rural and semi urban students to exhibit their multifarious talents.


2. Health Care

•    TNPL regularly organizes Medical Camps. The main focus will be on general health, anemia, eye defects, child health, kidney health, heart care, nutirtion
•    Medical camps are organized in association with renowned hospitals in and around the factory premises for the benefit of the stakeholders
•    Special training are imparted to the retarded and differently abled
•    Health awareness camps
•    Provide infrastructure to government hospitals, primary health centers,
•    Assist differently abled with necessary appliances
•    Blood donation camps
•    Cattle care camps and training on cattle rearing

 
3. Social Development
•    Support for the construction of infiltration wells, drainages, roads etc.,
•    Treated drinking water supply to the nearby villages
•    Provision of bus shelters, street lights
•    Children park
•    Toilets construction
 
4. Livelihood & Economic Improvement
•    Vocational training to the rural youth
•    Computer Training Centre established and imparting computer literacy training
•    Typewriting training Centre established and imparting training in both English and Tamil typing
•    Books donated to the rural libraries
•    Police selection training programs conducted every year
•    Livestock and Cattle Care training camps
•    Mobile cattle vaccination camps
 
5. Environment & Sanitation
•    Increasing the area under green cover
 
6. Soil & Water Conservation
•    Farmers’ meet is conducted regularly to train the farmers in scientific methods of cultivation and recent trends in farming.  
•    In association with Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore (TNAU), periodical study conducted on the soil conditions. 
•    The farmers are taken on tour to other states / towns to acquire first-hand knowledge of the improved farming techniques adopted
 
7. Culture & Heritage
•    Cultural programs by traditional folklore artistes are held.  
•    Debates and symposium in Tamil are held regularly.   
•    Local artistes are provided assistance to promote Rural Art and Culture.  
•    ‘Thai’ Pongal and Tamil New Year day are celebrated with enthusiasm
